Advent 2013: What's coming up on December 1st

Let's take a look at the second reading that we will hear on December 1st, the first Sunday in Advent. Romans 13:11 "Brothers and sisters: You know the time; it is the hour now for you to awake from sleep. For our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed; the night is advanced, the day is at hand. Let us then throw off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light; let us conduct ourselves properly as in the day, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in promiscuity and lust, not in rivalry and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh." What I get from this is that Christ is going to come again, and we have to be ready. We don't know when He will come for the second time, but we have to be alert and watchful. You have to behave and do what God wants you to do. I want to apologize for being absent for so long. My computer at home makes it very difficult to create new posts because of computer issues. I'll solve that problem by either one at the library or using the school's connection with my own laptop. I miss blogging. So basically this will be a catch-up post. I've had so many things on my mind and no way to let you all know about them! Sad day. Okay, moving on. It is now November, and Thanksgiving will be coming upon us pretty quick here. Notice that Thanksgiving hasn't happened yet. I point that out to you to comment on the holiday season. It is only November 14th. Advent, the preparation period for the Christmas season, hasn't even come upon us. So if you're already celebrating Christmas by playing Christmas music, having Christmas decorations up, or other traditions that belong to that season, how about putting that on hold?
