I have a new blog!

Image
+ J.M.J. Introducing: my new fashion blog! Find me at  https://fashionbystephblog.wordpress.com/ . I'll still be blogging here, but I started this new blog so I could learn more about WordPress and have a more specialized focus on one of my passions: fashion! :)

Scarf

Image
+ J.M.J. I have too many scarves. You can still wear them in springtime (I can feel, it's almost here!) The thing I love about scarves is that they cover more of you. It's a great layering technique and, when done right, looks tasteful. It's time to start transitioning to the lighter fabrics. The dead of winter is over! Thank you God! God bless you! Stephanie

Fashion Tuesday: Jackets with Dresses

Image
+ J.M.J. blog.stitchfix.com Sometimes, you don't feel like wearing a dress by itself. How can you make it less dressy? Add a jacket my friends! Great option for work. Dresses by themselves are fine. Pairing one with a jacket just dresses it down a notch, which is more comfortable at times. My personal favorite in the photo above is the one in the middle. I'm going to try the jean jacket pairing. Actually I have in the past and I liked it a lot. God bless you! Stephanie

Spring Fashion 2015 Part I

Image
+ J.M.J. Hey there! I had a request to do more fashion posts, so here you go! This is part I of a series because spring is such a fun time and there are so many options out there! I am here to sift through them for you to help you discover a look of your own that is functional, stylish, modest, and feminine. What a fun belt! I don't often wear belts. The darker wash of jeans dresses up the whole outfit. This is a lot of orange, but it works because the neutral white and denim balances it all out. The flats are so cute. A handbag is essential, and a scarf is still acceptable and useful in springtime weather. This one is more dressed up and dressed down at the same time. It is a perfect blend of chic and casual. The top is so feminine and "flowy," yet the jacket gives it a very tailored and finished look. The lighter wash of jeans makes this outfit not too dressed up, but you could also wear darker denim or slacks if you were going somewhere very fancy.  ...

For Ladies: Modesty in Fall Fashion

Image
+ J.M.J. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. The air grows crisp, leaves change into beautiful hues of gold, brown, and ruby, and pumpkins and apple cider surround me. Another thing that excites me about this time of year is fashion! Why? Because of boots, scarves, and layering. Lovely. I just wanted to point something out, though. In the fall, there tends to be more skin covered up because the air is getting colder. However, there is a trend going wild out there when the weather gets colder. I'm sure you've seen it, or even tried it. It's called "wearing leggings as pants." I think that leggings are fine, and are great for putting under a shorter skirt. But leggings are not pants. Leggings fit as tight as, well, tights. Would you think it's okay to wear just tights and a shirt? I wouldn't. I see leggings as the same. The only difference is that they don't cover your feet. They can go past your knees or down to your ankles; it ...

Spring Fashion Trends

Bright Dresses ~pull out those vintage styles and embrace the cheerful prints! Graphic Leggings ~have some fun with the different patterns, but please, they're not pants! Straw Fedoras ~I'm not a hat girl, but if you are, have a blast with the straw fedoras! Flouncy Skirt ~oh yeah, perfect for swing dances to twirl around! Bright Jackets ~sport those bold colors. Try blazers or jackets. How fun! Layered Statement Necklaces ~two is okay, but I wouldn't go over that. Modesty in jewelry is important too! Be careful you aren't drawing attention to the wrong areas. Crossbody Bags ~bright and functional is key. So cute, and super trendy! Fun Flats ~yes, please! I'm tall, so I don't go for the heels so much. Graphic Tees ~don't wear them for dressy occasions, but everything else should be okay. Source: Seventeen Magazine website
