Epiphany
Today is the feast of the Epiphany. During Mass, I was thinking about the wise men. We don't know for sure how many there were, or even what their names were. People think there were three because of the three gifts given by them: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
They had to have a whole lot of faith to go chasing after some star that held a prophecy. I also decided that they had to be pretty smart to figure all that out (hence being called wise).
It also took a lot of courage not to go back to Herod and tell him where Jesus was, basing all their decisions on a dream of all things.
May we be more like the wise men, pursuing knowledge, bright things that are good, and most importantly of all, Jesus Christ the Lord.
